on the dark side of the moon...

badassery... complete.

Each year I do a project associated with my "word" for the year.  This  year I had the entire background completed on this canvas in the beginning of January.  But I was waiting for my lettering class (see the post below) to finish and put the 'word' on there.  This canvas is huge - but I'm way too lazy to stand up and actually measure it.  Sorry.  My badass self is keeping her badass in this comfy chair.  ;-)

In keeping with the summer theme...

A commissioned canvas - she gave me the quote she wanted, and said "beachy".

Ok. I can do that.

Special thanks to Joanne Sharpe for LetterLove 101 - otherwise I would have just printed the quote out instead of actually lettering it myself.

sun... sun... sun...

can you tell what I'm craving more than anything else?  HOT SUN!  The little sun wasn't working for me... so I doodled a big one.  This one measures 9 x 12 and took approximately 6 hours to complete.  I would doodle and color while watching tv in the evening.

Next project.... a sun and moon combo.  It's brewing in my mind, and it's clamoring to get out.  The noise in my  head is incredible.

doodled alphas.... More Letter Love 101

OMGosh - when I saw the girls posting their doodled alphas, I knew I'd have to skip ahead one lesson to see what these were all about.  They looked SOOOOO freaking cool.  And guess what... they are SOOOOO addicting.  I started out with one letter.

That was way fun.  Then hb wanted to know why I never drew HIS name, so I did his initials.  (HIS choice of colors, not mine)

That was way fun too.  So I did a word... well, I did MY word.  Unfortunately, it was getting late and I went TOO far with shading it.  SO I tried to correct it, but it was not saveable.  So I guess I'll just have to do another.  :-)

and last but not least, I did another word grid, (which I LOVE doing) with one of my birdies and her favorite saying.

Thanks for looking... and if you leave a comment I will be so freaking excited I may do a nekkid banana dance.

Wait, I lied - I just finished another one... so I'm adding it to this post.  Here's my Serenity Prayer.. part 2.

steampunk

this is an 8x8 wood 'canvas' - done in total steampunk style for a friend's celebration.  I knew steampunk was a beloved style, and I asked for favorite colors and quote... and this is what I came up with.  Special thanks to Kaere and Kathy for their help in finding a cool steampunk font...  and tim holtz of course for all the cool masks and idea-o-logy metal stuff (which I didn't have to look any further than my scrapbook stuff!)

It always comes back to this...

I took a step back from the newer lessons last night, because I just NEEDED to do this...

Letter Love 101

So many of you know that I'm taking Joanne Sharpe's lettering class - Letter Love 101.  Here's a link to Joanne's blog because if I wait I will forget to link it.  Wait. Blogger is being a bugger again.  Let's try this again.  Click here

Hopefully that will work.  ANYWAY.  I have to say this is one of my favorite classes ever - Joanne's been one of my favorite artists for over a year since I met her in the original Soul Restoration in January of 2011.  I was so envious of her lettering abilities and wanted to emulate her SO much... so when she came up with this class I jumped on it.

She's an amazing teacher.  I am enjoying the HELL out of this class.  Here is my first real project - and I will post the new projects as I do them.
