Brave Girls Camp... PROJECTS.

Yeah. Still not THE blog post.  Patience, people, patience.

But I did want to share what I completed at Camp - since I had completed SR1 before going, I got a pass on doing my timeline this time.  So I worked on truths - something I hadn't really done in SR1.  We were also instructed to do our "dream soul house"... .

This is the cover of my "truth" book:

Some of the inside pages:

and my 'doodle' pages...

The cover of my art journal:  (one of the gals from my SR1 group sent me that face on fabric, isn't it COOL?)

and finally my "dream soul house" - on the beach, with waves and sun and sand... there is no fence around my soul house, but I am on an island, with restricted airspace.  ;-)

I got to work with a kinds of cool media... every art supply you could ever wish for was at our fingertips...

I also did a cuff leather bracelet - taught to me by the queen of bracelets, and super gorgeous woman and brave girl staffer, Tanya.  This is Tanya:

And my bracelet - it says 'do it anyway'

So, pics have been uploaded to fb, and I'm ready to start writing the story of Camp... maybe even tonight.  Stay tuned!!!!! Thanks for looking, and remember, I heart comments.  ;-)

Shiny balloon....

(yeah - sorry - it's still not my Camp story - still awaiting pics)

On the Sunday before I was leaving for Brave Girls Camp, I woke up feeling a ton of anxiety, totally ascared to death about the trip - mostly just the airport/plane thing.  I drank my coffee and decided that I needed to get OUT of my head, because my head was telling me horrible things.... so I strapped on the iPod, laced up my sneakers and hit the track.

On my first lap, on the way up the small rise, I noticed a foil helium balloon on the ground.  It was less than half full, and it's ribbon was wrapped around one of the posts along the walkway.  It was just lying/laying in the dirt.   It was a very sad balloon.  It caught my eye because of the bright colors all shiny against the rising sun.

I started practicing my breathing/meditation technique that my sponsor taught me the week before.  Breathing in, and saying "God In", and breathing out and saying "Fear Out".  (yes, I hyperventilated a few times before I got it right).

Still feeling 'not right', I began my second lap. I told myself that there were 19 other women that WEREN'T freaking out like I was... and I needed to get a grip.

As I approached the balloon again, I saw it still in the same spot on the ground... but as I walked PAST it, all of a sudden something caught my peripheral vision... and I turned my head and saw the balloon completely untangled from the post, and rising in the air... FOLLOWING ME.  It was about waist high... and it followed me up the entire rise - about 200 yards.

At the top I rounded the corner of the track and the balloon continued straight, but rose high  up into the air, even though I did not notice any breeze...

Yeah.  I heard You.  Loud and clear... ;-)

Brave Girls... Camp!!!!

Well, I did it.  I went... I flew alone for the first time... I was a true Brave Girl.  This isn't my actual blog post about Camp, I need to get pics together first.  Our group will have a Flickr account so that I can pick and choose the best ones.  Although one of my favorites is this one, with Melody...

And this one with My Donna...

It was the most amazing experience of my life, and I highly recommend attending... HIGHLY recommend.  I made friendships that will last a lifetime.  Miracles happened, magical things occurred... and my life was touched deeply.

I shall return to discuss in more detail... til then, spanks for reading!!!

Come Rock It Blog HOP!!

Hi everybody!!!  Welcome to The Scrappers Sanctuary first ever Come Rock it Blog Hop.

We are so excited about this hop and we want to welcome all scrappers, artist and crafters. If you have arrived on my blog other than through the Hop, please click HERE. This will take you to Katie's blog, where all the fun for today starts. If you happen to get lost along the way, just come back here and start over. No worries! We have some great challenges and wonderful prizes going on here for this event. Once you have signed up at our forum you are on your way to great challenges, lots of talent, great forum and most of all FUN!

So anyway, let me tell you a little about me... my name is Sandi.. I started scrapbooking around 9  years ago.  My hubby changed our spare bedroom into the most incredible studio for me - and if I could live in here, I would.  In January I took a course taught by  Melody Ross called Soul Restoration.  It changed the way I looked at life and art - and I have discovered the joys of Mixed Media.  I'm now in the midst of Soul Restoration II, loving every minute of it, and in 2 weeks will be heading to McCall, Idaho to meet Melody in person at Brave Girls Camp.  If you've never heard of this, please click the link to the right somewhere ----> and read all about it.

A couple of months ago I was asked to be on the DT at Scrappers Sanctuary, and I have enjoyed every moment.  We do some incredibly fun and inventive challenges, and our prize packages *cough*tim holtz*cough* are droolworthy.
So now for the excitement- my Blog Hop challenge to you is to create a mixed media piece - a vision board or vision cards.  Never heard of that?  I hadn't either - never fear.  For a vision board, just go sit down with some magazines and cut out pictures that represent what you want your life to hold - words that represent your wishes... anything that you find beautiful, interesting or that calls your soul.  Grab a big canvas... what's that you say? You don't have a canvas on hand? No problem.  Got some cardboard?  No?  Got a cereal box? I'll bet you do... now paint it.  Cheap craft paint.  88 cents.  Go get some if  you don't have some... in colors that you love.  Get some mod podge while you're at it.  Make believe you're in grade school again, cut  your wishes out of magazines, and use mod podge to glue them down... and then cover everything with another layer of MP.  Here's an example:

Don't want to do a vision board? Ok... do some vision cards!  You can use playing cards... pieces of that cereal box...  and now find some quotes that mean something to you.  Print them out, cut them out.  Ink 'em, distress 'em, do whatever you want with them... you can cover your cards with paper, paint... whatever floats your boat.  MP down your quote.  Cover everything with a layer of MP.
